Our whole analysis or meta-analysis very much comes down to Freudian ‘anticathexis’ or ‘reaction-formation’ in the sense that when we subconsciously or unconsciously invest or allocate our energy and focus towards an idea or thought or object or person – cathexis – the conscious mind then diverts the energy and focus towards some other idea or thought or object or person. But the initial desire towards the initial idea or thought or object or person never really goes away. Hence, the initial idea or thought or the initial investment and allocation of energy and focus towards the initial object or person is subject to repression and resistance. Freud then sought to pin the conscious manifestation of our psychosocial life and reality onto repression and resistance. And I’ve totally bought into and subscribed to what Freud was pitching or selling. I have no criticisms or doubts about Freud’s argument or theory whatsoever.
