Art and leisure are thus fundamentally opposed to the twin goals of genocide and global conquest which the system has set for itself. But the system also cannot overcome the “poetic aura” which Gramsci suggested has “already formed and emerged” or at least is in “the process of formation and emergence which has begun and is already consolidated.”
