“The Great Delusion: Liberal Dreams and International Realities” by John Mearsheimer. I’m surprised I didn’t recommend this book earlier. But better late than never. This book is more of an exercise in deconstruction than it is an exercise of a particular discourse, but that’s great nonetheless, given that deconstruction is the overarching theme of our postmodern age or epoch. Mearsheimer is very much my favorite contemporary American intellectual and scholar both in terms of style and substance. In my view, if you haven’t reckoned with Mearsheimer yet, then you haven’t reached high enough. You need to go do some more homework.
