Power, pleasure, but for meaning and perhaps even purpose, we arrive at Toynbee and the subject of civilizational collapse and disintegration. The current situation very much has all the stuff and trappings of the civilizational collapse and disintegration which Toynbee explained as part of his overall study of world history. So that is where we are in terms of the flow.
