Fourth Note to “The Decline of Liberalism”

It is therefore a prerequisite or a requirement of the deep state that independent thought be replaced by the kind of “NATO intellectualism” that Mills sought to critique and deconstruct, and in turn, the ‘deep state’ is very much a byproduct or outcome of the overall ‘perversion’ of liberalism at the hands of the American liberal.

And of course, what is essential and fundamental to our critique and deconstruction of the American liberal is education and pedagogy. To borrow from Mills: “If you do not specify and confront real issues, what you say will surely obscure them. If you do not embody controversy, what you say will be an acceptance of the drift to the coming human hell.”

Liberalism simply does not furnish or satisfy educational and pedagogical needs and requirements, and that is exactly what is at the heart of the critique and deconstruction of the American liberal at-large and writ-large. The “inadequacies” of American liberal education and pedagogy stem first and foremost from the fact that American liberal education and pedagogy denies a credible and legitimate oeuvre, and of course, any credible and legitimate oeuvre must also include Marx. It is perhaps this sole and singular issue – namely, the issue of education and pedagogy – which is at the very heart or root of our critique and deconstruction and perhaps even our evisceration and takedown of the American liberal.
