There are those of us who “have made up their minds not to be intimidated, who would rather go to jail than see their liberties nibbled away” as Arendt put it. But what is perhaps overlooked as a result of our civil disobedience is that America “might regain its better side as a result of the war.” One veteran after the Vietnam war added: “I know it’s nothing to bet on, but neither is anything else I can think of.”
Thus, there is no other option or path aside from a certain level of civil disobedience and law-breaking.
