What I would want to distill from the debate over whether excess wealth or militancy is the better route to pursue for the Russians is whether or not Russian militancy is something which can be softened with carrots and goodies, or if militancy is simply in the DNA of the Russians and in turn militancy is the most dominant attribute or characteristic or feature or trait of Russian national identity? And based on what we found, I would contend that militancy is simply part of basic Russian DNA and is also the most dominant or prominent attribute or feature of Russian national identity.
