Arguably, if there was a “Cold War for Dummies” book that were to ever come out, or if there were a “Cold War 101” class to teach in college, it would have just one page in it or one lecture on it and with one concept and PowerPoint on it: the balance of power. If you get the balance of power down, then you have the ‘Cold War’ between Washington and Moscow down. But there’s actually quite a bit behind it all. And of course, we’ve written on the balance of power extensively. My recommendation is to review it all, now that we have explained it to the extent that we have explained it.
