Over-expansion and overstretch appeared to be Sun Tzu’s greatest concern. He noted that with over-expansion and overstretch, not only do the expenses of the military continue to mount, but as the expenses of the military mount, the aggregate national wealth will dissipate as well. Exhaustion and fatigue will also set in as these two things occur. And of course, Sun Tzu and his teachings may appear as myth to us. But it is all as real and true as it can possibly and humanly be.
