All of this may also seem irrelevant to the American who is reading this, but it’s not irrelevant. There are lessons to be learned and applied. For one, right-wing fanaticism, extremism, criminality, terrorism, fascism, and Nazism are the basic and main outcomes of the breakdown and collapse of a liberal order, and leftism and socialism emerge as a counterbalance to it all. This is something that Americans are learning now, but it was something that Afghans had learned decades ago. It is thus important for Americans to learn the lessons and to apply them, lest America go the way of Afghanistan whereby right-wing fanaticism, extremism, criminality, terrorism, fascism, and Nazism are set into stone and are irreversible. Americans deserve better the way Afghans deserved better.
