Twelfth Note to “Essence of Guerrilla Warfare”

Arguably, to understand the broader context or the big picture scheme of things – namely, the Cold War context and system and “The Great Game” – we have to resort to the foundational documents or texts of the whole enterprise or initiative. And when we resort to the foundational documents or texts of the whole enterprise or initiative – with the foundational documents or texts being the “Long Telegram” of Kennan and the “NSC-68” of Nitze – we find that the whole enterprise or initiative was framed and perceived by Washington as an ethical or moral struggle and one that takes place on a global scale between the forces of freedom on one hand and the forces of repression on the other hand. Now, the question we should be asking ourselves at this very moment is whether the forces of freedom are winning, or are the forces of repression winning? Arguably, the forces of repression are winning, and if the forces of repression are winning, how does one turn the tide against them? It’s a complicated and tricky question to answer. But one has to start from somewhere. You need a starting point for the accomplishment of the goal and the advancement of the strategy.
