In logic, we call it “reconcile the paradox.” Anyone who has ever tried going to law school knows it. We reconcile the paradox of the best economy in the world with shitty vibes towards it through Russia. Russia knows full well that war and only war will tip the economy into going haywire. And that reconciles the paradox highlighted by the Fed Chair of Chicago. But of course, we have to assess how the White House will react to Russia’s dangerous game. And of course, the White House reaction is underpinned or undergirded by the basic assumption that for one, the war with Russia is neither inevitable nor perpetual, and even if it were inevitable and perpetual, it can be avoided or evaded. But of course, the question becomes one of how you avoid it or evade it with Article Five of NATO along with 40 American bases and over 100,000 American troops in Europe. It is established that it is both inevitable and perpetual. Fait accompli as one of our good friends and colleagues put it. But can it be avoided and evaded? And this is what the White House will perhaps scramble to figure out as the clock ticks and as the sands dwindle in the hourglass.
