In sum, the war is lost. Nevertheless, the plan in Washington at the moment is to dump over 900 billion borrowed dollars into a defense bill after the longest government shutdown in American history because of a lack of money for health care. And of course, the strategy of prolonging the war into a war of attrition until one side or the other collapses plays into the adversary’s hands. But as we said before, sit idly by, vexed and motionless, in Augustinian fashion as Rome burns, without any possible way to turn the tables on the adversary, given that there is no choice. There is no choice or free will in the matter. It becomes a matter of fate and predestination in the very end.
