In short, we know what our priorities and our hobbies and habits and interests are. But can we give up what we love the most from the life of this world for a clear-eyed assessment and reckoning of reality as the mystics have compelled us to do? That’s the million-dollar question. And I doubt that even the best of us are capable of it. But that’s the whole point.
