Artist: Farhad Darya. Rough Translation: “The life of this world will eventually end, and so will its trials and tribulations. May you live a long, happy, and fulfilling life, my fellow millennials and youth. I’ll be your voice and the voice for all the lovers and romantics out there if no one else will. Desire and lust die out, and so will the value and worth of what we accumulate from this world over the course of time. We won’t take anything with us to the grave. This coming new year will pass in a flash like the previous year did, and before you know it, you and I will become old and degenerate like the generations that came before us. Take it from a poor foreigner and stranger to your lands. From someone who has experienced hardship and isolation and has endured it all without a real cure in sight and has still managed to survive it all. My parents are just as corrupt and stingy as yours, so their prayers won’t be accepted even if they pray for my success and well-being. But of course, what does the rich white man know about this poor brown man’s way of thinking?”
