Fifth Note to “Kabul Dur Ast”

What is lost on me at times due to the forgetfulness that makes up the core and the essence of human nature is that ending up here even though I never wanted to end up here is all part of a long, drawn-out process of salvation. And the basic question becomes one of whether salvation is achieved through acquiescence and passivity towards the evils and injustices of world history and the current day and age, or whether it is a requirement and it is imperative in this whole process that these evils and injustices be addressed and corrected. And in terms of the complex entanglement with the beloved which is the reward for going through the whole process, it is bittersweet. It is painful, but pleasing at the same time. Love hurts, but love is the only cure as well. Love makes the bitterness of the medicine of purification that is at the heart of this whole process a lot more tolerable and bearable.
