Between the art and the propaganda, it’s a no-brainer: I prefer the art. But then again, not only is the propaganda indispensable, but the propaganda is inextricably linked and intertwined with the art. So there was no escaping either one. They came in a package. Simply put, I’ve met a lot of great artists among the Afghan and Farsi-speaking diaspora. And they’re all dear to my heart. Meeting an artist is very energizing. You tend to attract and meet with those on the same frequency and vibe when it comes to energy and mood. Otherwise, we repel one another. “Elective Affinity.”
