Twelfth Note to “Aziz e Man”

When we look at the history of post-Napoleonic wars within the West – namely, the “Great Wars” or the “World Wars” of the 20th century – all it took was a trivial pretext to set them off. For instance, during World War I, it took “Alsace-Lorraine” and the “Rhineland” to set off World War I. And during World War II, it took Poland to set off World War II.

Today, we see that it is perhaps Greenland which will set off World War III or the third major European war of the post-Napoleonic era. We were of course under the assumption that Ukraine would be the pretext for it. But Ukraine was to theoretically bring NATO together against a Russian threat. Greenland, on the other hand, threatens to tear NATO apart. What if Ukraine completely falls off the radar because of Greenland and instead of bringing the West together to face the Russian threat because of Ukraine, the focus instead shifts to the NATO alliance fighting between themselves over Greenland as the Danish parliamentarian has just threatened live on CNN? “Casablanca.” It very much has a “Casablanca” sort of ring and essence to it. But of course, we touched on all of it before. We were all about the intersection of art and politics, and how culture and history is very much at this intersection in order to explain it all for us, albeit in a subconscious or unconscious manner.
